My Teaching Philosophy
My goal as a teacher is to encourage growth in multiple areas with particular emphasis on socio-emotional, Physical, Cognitive, and language development. I believe that play is an essential part of childhood. Play offers the freedom children needs to try out new ideas, practice developing skills, and imitate adult roles. Play allows children to learn social skills and develop friendships. A classroom environment should provide experiences that are interactive and engaging for the age levels of children it serves. My motivation to teach comes from a desire to help others and see children’s excitements as they learn new things. I believe that teaching is a way to make a positive difference in each of the children’s lives. I want to be that positive role model that children look up to. I believe children learn through active hands on involvement with materials, equipment, and activities. I would greet and acknowledge parents and families as they arrive into the classroom. I would have books about different kinds of family inside the classroom. I would have photos of the children’s families posted around the classroom. I would also have useful resources available to parents and families.
